For the last four years we have been working in partnership with the Association for Art History to challenge the reduction and removal of art and art history teaching in schools in the UK, and ensure that young people have access to and can aspire to careers in the cultural and creative industries through inspired, motivated and determined teachers and school leadership.

The Plan Prepare Provide partnership programme includes:
• An annual 3-day residential Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunity for art teachers delivering GCE A level and GCSE.
• Follow-on opportunities for teachers to further validate this through undertaking a ‘Developing Teacher’s Research and Practice’ PG Certificate at the University of Leeds.

The residential course provides critical advice, insight and experience from current art and art history teachers, academics and arts professionals from across the UK. It provides a unique opportunity for art teachers to develop skills, knowledge and delivery of academic and practical art lessons, underpinned by a learning framework to build upon participants’ art historical understanding.

Plan Prepare Provide has run since 2017 and in that time has supported 73 teachers from over 70 different schools and colleges from across the UK. On average each annual teacher cohort reaches around 5000 pupils per week.

You can see 2019's jam-packed programme here, and below for a selection of teacher feedback and photographs from this year's event.

“I have enjoyed working with like-minded teachers on hands-on and thinking activities. I have enjoyed CPD that is designed for my subject which can be put into action immediately.”

“I have enjoyed every minute, each presentation was so entertaining and informative. I have loved working with people from outside of my faculty. It was so much fun and I have met a fantastic group of people.”

“Great CPD, rejuvenation of a teacher in need after little input since qualifying 12 years ago! All art teachers need this every few years!
