Successful study of the media at A Level involves engaging critically with media – as industries as well as texts.
In this study day, students will have an opportunity to think critically about current issues raised by the media industries. David Hesmondhalgh, a ‘key theorist’ on the A Level Media Studies syllabus, and a Professor at the University of Leeds, will speak about the media industries and answer questions from students and teachers. His lecture will be followed by a seminar, where students will have a chance to discuss the key issues raised and work through examples in small groups.
During the study day, students will also participate in a practical workshop, focused on how to tell stories through moving images, and be given a tour of the University campus.
