The School of Languages, Cultures and Societies and the Arts & Humanities Outreach team joined forces last weekend and headed down to London to take part in the Language Show Live event at Olympia. This is Europe’s largest language event which includes everything from talks, classes, performances and information stands. The exhibition is for everyone who is interested in languages and it was a fantastic opportunity for the University of Leeds to showcase what is on offer to our undergraduate and postgraduate students if they chose to study at the University of Leeds. The event also gave us the opportunity to talk to prospective students, build relationships with teachers and share our programme of activities with schools.

The academic staff from the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies delivered some free taster sessions in Spanish, Italian and Thai, all of which can be studied at the University of Leeds. They also talked to the thousands of attendees and other exhibitors about the importance of studying languages.

Alex Peel, Educational Engagement Officer, University of Leeds said, “It was fantastic to be involved in an event which celebrates language learning and helps to inspire young people to study languages at School and University. We’re really passionate about supporting teachers and this event gave us the opportunity to show them how we can help.”
