Exploring & Celebrating African Languages
Exploring & Celebrating African Languages’ is a series of interactive in-class presentations that celebrate and explore four African languages spoken by communities in the North East and globally. The languages chosen do not represent all the languages spoken in Africa and are just four of many hundreds. If any of your students speak any other African language, you can use this activity to ask them about their language and culture. The activity itself requires children and young people to work as a class to complete four activities which relate to the language and part of the region the language is spoken in. By taking part in our activity, your students will:
- Learn about North, South, East & West African countries & their geography.
- Gain an understanding of the North, South, East & West African people, their history, & culture.
- Gain an appreciation of the diversity of African cultures and recognise the importance of cultural preservation.
- Aimed at Primary (from Year 4) to Secondary (Yr7-Yr13)
