Language and Business Competition
Our Language & Business Competition is a challenge set for Year 9 and 10 students currently studying a language at school.
The event is designed to help students understand how practical language skills are, and make language learning exciting for young people. We hope to encourage them to continue with their language learning beyond GCSE and to understand the importance of languages in a business context.
How does it work?
Please be aware that due to a limited budget we can only deliver live in school workshops to schools which are within two hours of the university by public transport.
New for 2025: all languages welcome!
In the interest of diversity and to raise awareness to the value of multilingualism, we encourage schools to select students to either enter the competition in the language they study at GCSE, or in a home language.
For example, if your school offers French and Spanish at GCSE, you could select groups of students and have a cohort of mixed taught and home languages:
- 2 French groups
- 1 Spanish group
- 1 Polish group
- 1 Punjabi group
- 1 Urdu group
